Chocolate Success

I can't tell you how many times I've tried, unsuccessfully, to make chocolate chip cookies.
Seriously, can't every girl make chocolate chip cookies?
Especially every wife?
The answer is no.

And if you can, don't remind those of us who have trouble. It makes us sad.
And I say us to make myself feel less alone in yet another kitchen battle.

Well, I'm domestically challenged in more ways than one, and the kitchen is one.
Many recipes, recommendations... "well, have you tried my recipe? it's the best recipe..."
Right. And when they don't work, "well, did you follow the recipe? I always add..."
Like, of course I would have thought to add that.
My mind doesn't work like that.

I'm pretty simple. I think.

I have guidelines for chocolate chip cookies.
      Small.
           Soft and chewy.
                Many chocolate chips.
                        No add-ins... raisins, nuts, fruit...
                        oatmeal is definitely the exception.

I don't think my standards are too high.

All this to provide some background on the issue.
And so you can celebrate with me when I tell you that last Tuesday,

I was successful!!!
I made chocolate chip cookies, and they were good!
Small, soft and chewy, and chocolate chipey.

(which one of these is not like the other...)

The best part was, I took them to clinical Wednesday as a little goodbye present, and they loved them!
As in, people wanted more!
And asked to take some home!
Seriously?

Thank you Lord for small kitchen successes.

  3. YAY! They look very good. I am simple too... I like the recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag, that always seems to work for me (or the boxed kind) ;-)
