Now meets forever

This week I had the honor of celebrating the life of Jaimee Renfrow at our alma mater (the first one) with my friend.

And about 300 other people. Or 500. I'm really not good at estimating numbers. But a lot.

The chapel was almost full. Of friends. Faculty. Family.
People who were impacted by Jaimee, in however great or small of a way.

Never have I better understood the idea of joy in mourning.

"Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
and the young men and the old shall be merry.
I will turn their mourning into joy;
I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow."
Jeremiah 31:13

There is something amazing about knowing Jaimee is with Jesus right now.
Jaimee has seen God's face
What will it be like to come face to face with the Creator of the Universe?
The thought overwhelms me.

"Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."
1 Corinthians 13:12

I saw reflections of His glory at Point Loma on Wednesday.
In the faces of those in the chapel.
In the words of Rony, and Jaimee's grandpa.
In the beauty of the university I had the privilege of being a part of for 3.5 years.

In the ocean.

In the sunset. In the clouds.

God, thank you for glimpses of your glory, and beauty, and grace here on this Earth.
I can't wait to be in the presence of your full glory, and beauty, and grace.

Something simple on Monday

[clarification: Steve is the mastermind behind all things outside. he works so hard every week to keep it looking fresh and beautiful. so credit where credit is deserved... way to go Esteban!]

sometimes it's the little things

like the flowers in my parents' front yard
that I wait for to open.
every Spring they never fail
to open on sunshiney days, big and yellow and proud.

it's like a secret garden
walking up the pathway
you feel special, like they opened just for you
to welcome you home.

i really love flowers
the ones in our neighborhood make me smile
but there's just something about the flowers at my parents' house
that makes me smile extra big.

i love when nature does just what God created it to do
boldly proclaim His existence
and bring Him glory
by being beautiful
